“Art is not the possession of the few who are recognized writers, painters, musicians; it is the authentic expression of any and all individuality. Those who have the gift of creative expression in unusually large measure disclose the meaning of the individuality of others to those others. In participating in the work of art, they become artists in their activity. They learn to know and honor individuality in whatever form it appears.” ~ John Dewey

“To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.” ~ Osho
Random Thoughts on Beauty:
Beauty can be found in the strangest of places…in the softest of sounds, the smallest of sights, the faintest of touches.
Beauty can be found…looking in-between the bars of a jail cell
Beauty The smallest sight can change into the broadest vision…
Beauty The softest of sounds…can change into the most powerful and persuasive of voices!
In the words of Led Zeppelin, It Takes “A Whole Lotta (Unconditional) Love”
On Facebook today an interesting question was posed as follows: “What is needed to Heal our Planet and Heal Ourselves?” I pondered this for a minute, ‘and came up with a basic premise, from which we can build and expand upon. Before sharing this epiphany of sorts, I want to stress one key observation. In this tenuous day and age, our lives are riddled with uncertainties and ambiguities, as is the state of our planet itself. Earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, and violence are every day occurrences. I’ve noticed people react in one of three ways: One, they are desensitized to human suffering and unaffected by these seemingly common-place tragedies. Two, they become more fearful and self-absorbed and less trusting of others, retreating inward, rather than reaching out to others. Three, people join together and put differences aside to lend an empathetic hand to those suffering losses and work constructively and cooperatively to create solutions and ease suffering. Considering these three responses to human and planetary crises, I offer this as my preliminary answer to the question “What is needed to heal our planet and ourselves?”
We need… A whole lotta Unconditional Love to start. This would require tolerance of differences, appreciation of diversity, and awareness of our universal and human connection that transcends all individual differences in race, religion, color, creed, ethnicity, class, etc. We need to adopt a universal spiritual philosophy based on Compassion that unites, rather than divides people, mitigating the influence of the various organized religions. Of course, most importantly, we must Believe that Peace on Earth is indeed possible, and Be Willing to make the necessary changes to transform Vision into Reality.
